About CARRIE
Carrie Van Horn is the heart of Heartwood Visuals. With a professional and academic background in conservation, sustainability and science communication, she has consistently ingrained creativity and art into her work. Carrie's formal education includes a Masters of Conservation Leadership (MS, Colorado State University) and undergraduate studies in Environmental Studies with an Environmental Design focus (BS, University of Oregon, Clark Honors College). This educational foundation and passion has lead her to specialize primarily in visual work in the environmental sectors. Her illustrations, illustrated videos and live graphic recordings are inspired by interconnections between humanity and the environment and she harnesses the power of visual communication to deepen and strengthen these connections. Carrie’s current path as a visual practitioner has also grown from roots as a sustainability and climate change planner, social science researcher in Kenya, naturalist and environmental educator. Currently based in Fort Collins, Colorado, she feels fortunate to enhance communication and engagement, explain complex science and overall create positive change, one drawing at a time. |
